Move On Moves Out

MoveOn.org has convinced the Nevada Democratic Party - and its candidates - to withdraw from participating in a live televised debate on Fox News.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal.

I don't think MoveOn had to do much to convince the Democratic candidates to avoid Fox News after
FNC chairman Roger Ailes' comments. However, I'd rather we didn't turn "It's Over TV" into a political forum. Let's just agree that we disagree on certain views, and steer back toward the entertainment side of the telly. Please?

You're right, I should have left the politics out of it. I've edited my views out of the opriginal post.

But I still think the story is worth noting in that Fox News was attempting to open a forum for what is perceived to be 'the other side.' Given that I poked them a few weeks ago for launching a comedy show on a news network, I thought the item had some merit.

Ailes' comment was aimed at the President, not Obama.

"And it is true that Barack Obama is on the move. I don't know if it's true that President Bush called (Pakistani President Pervez) Musharraf and said, 'Why can't we catch this guy?'"

That's funny.

There's a quantum shift going on in the broadcast news business that is worth paying attention to. Vertical integration is colliding with partisan politics in a fascinating way that is going to effect the industry down the road.

We're approaching a point at which the public may soon be getting their 'news' only from entities that share their own personal agenda. That's a whole new breed of narrowcasting that is light years beyond what cable once promised.

That's not so funny.
